The Centre has 3 turbines, a 400W Air X turbine, a 450 W NPP Sprite, and a 3 kW Whisper 175. The 3 kW turbine is part of a net metered system, the first in New Brunswick, which helps offset the Centre’s electricity use. Most of these systems were installed by staff at Falls Brook or as part of a demonstration/workshop.

Installation time
Most systems took a weekend to install, but some of the larger installations (e.g. 3 kW turbine) took a week. There were ongoing upgrades to most of the larger systems.
Installation date
The Whisper 175 was installed in 2003, and has had multiple problems since then. This model is no longer made, with an updated model (Whisper 500) being sold by Southwest Wind Power.
Falls Brook Centre is a sustainable community demonstration and training centre in rural New Brunswick. Falls Brook Centre strives to promote exemplary sustainable practices. This includes solar and wind energy system demonstrations.
Falls Brook Centre has a number of differently configured systems, including off-grid, PV, PV/wind hybrid, net-metering, and solar hot water. They are available for anyone to come visit and see.
